Hi guys, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your lifestyle?

Hi, we are Michael and Debbie, we have been married for 41 years years and after we retired we decided to sell our house and travel the world together. So far, we have been to six continents, visited 85 countries and called home 266 airbnbs. We visited more than 300 cities in several countries including Turkey, Israel, Russia, Mexico, South America, Africa, Cuba, The Middle East, Central Asia, New Zealand, Australia and Asia and every country in Europe. Usually we stay one-two weeks in one place, although currently, due to covid outbreak we have been already six weeks in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico.

Can you tell us how your lifestyle looked like before the current outbreak?

As we said, before covid outbreak we used to change our location every one-two weeks. What we love the most about our lifestyle is the possibility to meet with other nomads in different locations. We have quite a lot of followers on our blog and it is amazing to see them one day in Mexico and six months after that somewhere in Europe. A few years ago we started with our blog The Senior Nomads and we never thought it will be so popular! We are overwhelmed that so many readers, nomads and potential nomads are interested in our stories, we were never expecting so much interest!

I believe you are currently in Mexico, right? How do you like the country?

We love Mexico and we are very happy to be here during the outbreak. Currently we are in San Miguel de Allende, a charming Mexican city with about seventy thousand inhabitants. We are very lucky to be here during the current crisis. We have been in this city three times already, so actually it is very nice to be in a familiar place during the covid outbreak. Before the outbreak the life in this small town was very active, there were many cultural events and exhibitions, however, now most of the things are closed.

What do you like the most about Mexico?

Mexican food is amazing. We are also in love with the weather, it is almost always sunny here!

What does your life look like right now? How is the situation in Mexico?

We are currently staying in a beautiful airbnb. Few weeks ago, we were considering the option to go back to the USA, however, since we sold our house there, at the end we decided to stay in Mexico. We are staying mostly home now, however, we have here a few friends from the USA. We have met with four couples here in San Miguel that follow our blog and happen to be here at the same time. We have picnics together with some of them. We sit ten feet apart, but at least we have a little social life. Our friends also decided to stay here in San Miguel de Allende till the situation gets better.

How did you solve the situation with the housing? Did you rent something long term?

We were lucky, since we agreed with our landlord that we can stay in our current airbnb until the situation will get more stable.

What do you think will be your next destination once the crisis is over? Do you already have some plans or not yet?

We would love to do Trans-Siberian Railway, this is one of our dreams. We would also love to go to Europe, to Paris and also we would love to visit Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Also, before the outbreak we planned to go to Colombia and Costa Rica and then back to Seattle for some weeks. So as you can see, there are still so many countries we want to visit!

What is your favourite destination, if you should pick only one?

We are both in love with Croatia, Portugal and New Zealand. When it comes to cities, Debbie loves Lisbon and Florence and Michael really likes Lyon and Hamburg. Furthermore, we both agreed that Nuremberg is a beautiful place absolutely worth visiting.
