Reading Time: 4 minutes

Hi Alex can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your lifestyle?

For the last couple of years, I’ve been traveling while working only with my blog and social media as well as marketing and photography. For many, this lifestyle is known as the Digital Nomad lifestyle.

I’m originally from Sweden, and have been traveling the world more or less since 2010 when I left Sweden for the first time. Since 2015, I travel with my girlfriend Christine.

I’m a professional travel blogger and run one of the most read travel blogs in Europe. Some refer to me as a travel influencer as well, but first and foremost I see myself as a regular traveler, just wanting to help and inspire others. Through the years, my photographs have been featured in numerous of the biggest magazines worldwide.

What is your current destination?

I’m currently in Spain, in Malaga.

Can you tell us a bit about the projects you are currently working on? Are you currently looking for some new projects and clients?

I’m working full-time on my travel blog swedishnomad.com and have postponed all marketing campaigns for the rest of the year, so I’m not looking for any projects or clients atm.

Instead, I will put even more focus on my own business and also start some other side-projects to diversify my income streams further. And I will soon start planning for next year, once it gets more clear on where the travel industry is heading after COVID-19.

What do you like the most about being a Digital Nomad?

Freedom, and being able to work from wherever as long as there is a reliable internet connection. I can be almost anywhere in the world and still complete my daily choirs.

And what are the downsides of it (in case there are any)?

It can get lonely at times, being away from family. And there are times when traveling, where you have to finish your work before being able to discover the destination you’re currently visiting. This can be frustrating, especially if you have made new friends who are not working while traveling.

What is a place/country you liked the most while travelling and why? What’s on your to-travel-list?

Japan. It has everything. A mix of the old and new, in perfect harmony. Japanese people are also very friendly and polite in general.

Madagascar, Antarctica, and Galapgos are high on my list together with Uganda and Rwanda.

How often do you use coworking spaces? Is there one that you’d like to recommend to other nomads?

Personally, for getting my work done, I enjoy working in my own bubble. But I see great value in coworking spaces to meet and connect with likeminded people.

Let´s talk about community. Is there a special place/city that you particularly liked because of people/community?

I really enjoy Thailand, particularly the north with Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The locals are very welcoming and there are many digital nomads as well. There are also lots of coworking places and work-friendly cafes. Chiang Mai was one of the first places I traveled to as a digital nomad, more than 5 years ago, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

I can see that you are a travel-foodie, could you share with us your favourite meals that you tried while travelling?

I love all kinds of food, but I especially enjoy Japanese food in Japan. They cook their food with such passion and honor that you’ll almost never be served something that’s below delicious.

In particular, I like Japanese curry, and Kobe beef. Indian cuisine is another favorite of mine, and there are few places in the world where you can get such flavorful food.

Alex, can you tell us what is your biggest dream?

To keep being able to work online. And in the future, to start a shelter and rescue center for wild animals. I want to help saving our world’s biodiversity, before it’s too late.

In case you have a motto, could you share it with us?

I really love the saying: In a world where you can be anything, be kind. If everyone followed that advice, we would be leaving in a much less hostile world.

Could you share with us the names of two inspiring digital nomads that you are following?

In my beginning years as a travel blogger, Nomadic Matt and Expert Vagabond were the ones who inspired me and gave me the courage to pursue the dream of becoming a professional travel blogger.
